Access to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) is one of the main causes we fight for. We have devoted many of our projects to this cause over the past 40 years. Médecins du Monde currently works around the world to improve access to sexual and reproductive healthcare and to ensure that users’ rights are respected.
Sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) cover fundamental aspects of a person’s life: their body, their sexuality, their health, their emotional and sexual relationships, and their parenting choices. As fundamental human rights, sexual and reproductive rights aim to promote independent living, and free and consensual sexuality, without violence or discrimination. These rights are an essential condition for progressing towards gender equality and the development of a more equitable and just society.
